Alhaji Collins Dawuda, Minister of Water Resources, Works and
Housing, yesterday inspected ongoing works at the Ada Coastal
Protection project in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region.
The protection scheme, which is in two-phases, will cost EUR 225
million, and its being handled by the International Marine and Dredging
Consultants and Dredging International, both from Belgium.
The project was awarded to the companies in 2011 by the MWR&WH
with funding from the Government of Belgium. The first phase, a
5-kilometer stretch, at a cost of EUR 60 million, started in January
2012, was completed in August 2013, five months ahead of schedule.
The second phase, which is a 10-kilometer stretch, worth EUR 165 million, is expected to be completed in March 2016.
