Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, has warned Police officers to stay away from partisan politics as Ghanaians wait for the Supreme Court verdict on the 2012 Presidential election petition hearing.
According to himm, officers who meddle in partisan politics do so at their own risk, because the Police administration would not entertain any form of unethical practices.
Mr Alhassan gave the warning when he addressed more than 400 Police officers at a parade in Sunyani, as part of his one-day familiarization visit to the Brong-Ahafo Region.

He reminded the officers that it was the core mandate of the Police to protect lives and properties and so they must remain neutral and unbiased in the performance of their duties.

The IGP entreated his men to strictly adhere to operational guidelines and be more proactive and responsive to duty.

Mr Alhassan told the officers to allow loyalty and professionalism to be their hallmark and endeavour to ensure that they discharge their duties without favour and partisan considerations.

He advised the officers to live above reproach and to sensitize their relatives and friends on the need to maintain peace in the country.
