The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it will send a strong
delegation to support the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) national
delegates’ conference in Tamale on Saturday.
According to the NDC, it is their expectation that the NPP will
conduct the contest in atmosphere devoid of hostility and violence, to
ensure peace during and after the conference.
The General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia in an interview with Citi News
said a successful congress of the NPP “is not beneficial to them alone
as a party but it goes to raise our democratic as a nation.”
On the other hand however, “anything untoward that may happen there
will go to end our democratic credentials so we wish them well.”
Mr. Nketia wished all the aspirants contesting for various national positions well.
Other political parties are also wishing the NPP well in their event.
The General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ivor
Greenstreet wished all delegates travelling to Tamale a safe journey and
urged them to conduct the elections in a peaceful manner adding that
competency should be the basis for their voting.
The People’s National Convention’s (PNC) General Secretary, Bernard
Monah and that of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Kofi Siaw
Asamoah both congratulated the NPP for adhering to their party’s
constitutions.
