The
Northern Youth for Peace and Development (NYUPED), on Tuesday, presented
the “2013 NYUPED National Achievement Award” to the 2012 presidential
candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Presenting the award, the Executive Director of NYUPED, Mr. Prince Hardi Adams, explained that the choice of the 2012 NPP flagbearer for the award was reached after a board meeting held on the 15th of October 2013, where it was unanimously agreed that Nana Akufo-Addo should receive the award.
According to Mr Adams, Nana Akufo-Addo was presented with the award “because of your achievements over the years as a dedicated leader for Ghana and your ideal democratic maturity in the just ended Presidential Election Petition.”
“We have unanimously decided to add this local award to the already prestigious national and international awards that have been given to you in recognition of your great achievements and love for our country Ghana, upon your acceptance of the verdict of the Supreme Court, and your decision not to seek a review thereafter,” Mr Adams said.
The Executive Director further added that the decision to award Nana Akufo-Addo was also reached because of the immense contributions he has made to the socio-economic and human capital development of the Ghanaian people.
“In fact as a son of our dear country, and coming from humble beginnings, you have emerged as a giant to give hope to our under-privileged brothers and sisters, especially those coming from the Northern Regions and the entire Ghanaian people,” Mr. Hardi said.
He continued, “You have demonstrated that with God, hard work, dedication, resilience and focus, everything is possible to achieve as a Ghanaian.”
Nana Akufo-Addo, on his part, thanked NYUPED for the honour done him. He urged leadership and entire membership of NYUPED to remain focussed in their quest to ensure development and peace abounds in the 3 Northern regions.
