In
response to a story in the Friday, April 11, 2014 edition of the
Chronicle newspaper with the headline “Afoko is my man, Akufo-Addo
declares”, the Office of Nana Akufo-Addo wishes to make it unequivocally
clear that the story is false and a fabricated one.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has not endorsed the candidature of Paul Afoko ahead of tomorrow’s National Delegates Conference.
Indeed, Nana Akomea, described as the source in the Chronicle story, has come out to state that he has granted no such interview to the paper, regarding an endorsement of Paul Afoko’s bid to become National Chairman of the party by Nana Akufo-Addo.
We are somewhat surprised that a paper of the Chronicle’s reputation made no efforts, whatsoever, in contacting Nana Akufo-Addo or any member of his staff to confirm or otherwise the veracity of this story.
Nana Akomea, as the story tries to put out, apart from being the Communications Director of the 2012 campaign, does not speak for Nana Akufo-Addo.
We urge the general public and delegates of the New Patriotic Party not to give any credence to the story.
