Be selfless and humble - Asantehene urges Ghanaians

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has charged Ghanaians to rededicate themselves and work selflessly to speed up the socio-economic development of the country.

He said selflessness and dedication to duty, truth and compassion for others is what is needed at work places at all times in the current development process of the country.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu made the call at the launch of a 98-page book titled, “Journey to eternal harvest”, written by Bishop Professor Dr Asafo-Agyei Anane-Frempong, a renowned medical doctor and minister of the gospel in Kumasi, on Friday.

The book chronicles the life story of Dr Asafo-Agyei, founder of the Asafo-Agyei hospital in Kumasi, which is the first international piles treatment centre in Ghana.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu praised Dr Asafo-Agyei for his immense contribution to the medical profession in Ghana and humility in the service of mankind.

This, according to the Asantehene, had seen Dr Asafo-Agyei receiving many international awards and recognition by many people.

He urged Ghanaians in responsible positions to emulate the selflessness and humility of Dr Asafo-Agyei in the discharge of their duties.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu pledged his support to Dr Asafo-Agyei in the charity work he had taken upon himself to help vulnerable people in society.

Dr Asafo-Agyei said proceeds from the sale of the book would go into charity projects to register about 3000 needy and vulnerable people in society onto the national health insurance scheme.

He is also championing support for security agencies, needy citizens, widows, orphans, the physically challenged and the youth.

Dr Asafo-Agyei called for support from individuals and groups to achieve his objectives.

The first copy of the book was auctioned for GH?20,000. It was bought by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The second was bought by Nana K.Gyasi, a businessman in Kumasi for GH?10,000 and the third copy by Bishop Dr Prince Hampel, a Ghanaian priest based in America for GH?5,000.
