Ghana Police finally okays “Occupy Flagstaff House” demonstration.

The Police Administration has okayed the planned “Occupy Flagstaff House” demonstration scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 1 after it initially warned it would not permit it.
The protest which was to take place in front of the Flagstaff House has, however, been moved to the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park for security reasons, according to the police.

The Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Police, DSP Freeman Tettey, had earlier stated that the police would use every legitimate means to stop the demonstration.

However, in a later interview on Asempa FM, DSP Freeman Tettey said the police have reached an agreement with the Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance, organisers of the protest, to hold the demonstration at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.

He added that the counter demonstration by the One Thousand Man March has been put on hold.

The Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance, had planned to picket in front of the Flagstaff House in Accra in protest of the worsening economic conditions in the country.
