Rawlings is a burden on Ghana - James Kwabena Bomfe (Kabila).

A leading Youth Activist of the Convention People’s Party(CPP) James Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly known as Kabila, has descended heavily on former President Jerry John Rawlings, describing him as a burden to the country.
The CPP youth leader also says former President Rawlings has no moral authority to accuse his colleague ex-President, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor or any other leader of corruption, since he is the number one culprit in Ghana’s history, when it comes to corruption. According to him, Mr. Rawlings will continue to be the darkest spot in Ghana’s democracy and an unnecessary burden the country would have to accommodate, since he has no intention of behaving like a statesman as he ought to be.

Kabila, who was speaking on a weekend political talk show on HELLO FM in Kumasi last Saturday, said Mr. Rawlings should count himself lucky that Ghanaians, as peace loving people, have decided to allow sleeping dogs to lie, stressing that in any other country, he would not have had the opportunity to behave like he has been doing.

According to him, former President Rawlings’ very existence in itself speaks volumes of how corrupt he is, as a military leader who metamorphosed into a democratic leader to rule the country for almost 19 years. The CPP member, who was commenting on former President Rawlings’ scathing attack on his successor, Agyekum Kufuor and the NPP administration for being the most corrupt administration, said Mr. Rawlings’ incessant attacks on his colleague smacks of jealousy and cold hatred.

“I am surprised former President Rawlings still has the guts to accuse someone of being corrupt; was he not the one who said he was coming to fight corruption but ended up superintending over the most corrupt administration. “He himself left office an affluent man though he claimed he had nothing, what is this account number 48 that still remains a mystery, Rawlings must feel ashamed to even talk about corruption,” Kabila ranted.

Kabila wondered why former President Rawlings always adopts sanctimonious stance on issues regarding corruption during his administration, when he was actually on record to have expressed disgust over how corrupt some of his ministers were.

The CPP member also described Mr. Rawlings’ assertion that the intervention of the late Mr. Paul Victor Obeng saved many NPP officials from being prosecuted during the time of late President Mills.

“This claim by Rawlings is palpably false and mischievous because we have seen lots of NPP officials who were prosecuted for alleged corruption, but were cleared by the court, as we are speaking right now Mr. Asamoah Boateng is still facing trial, so what is Rawlings talking about!,” he queried.
