Kumasi: We will crash NPP if... - NDC

The Ashanti Regional branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress has vowed to launch an all out onslaught on opposition NPP supporters for trying to make President Mahama unpopular.

The NDC claimed they have gathered some intelligence which gives credence to the fact that the NPP in Kumasi is going to embark on a number of activities to cause disaffection for the president.

The security machinery there has subsequently been notified about the conspiracy, Regional Secretary of the NDC, Raymond Tanoh told Joy News on Saturday.

President Mahama together with some local and foreign dignitaries is expected to grace the 15th anniversary of the coronation of the Asantehene, Otumufo Osei Tutu II, on Sunday.

Mr. Tanoh, however, suspects some NPP functionaries in the region are plotting to ride on the back of the doctored tape of President Mahama in which he is alleged to have vilified the people in the region, and in a form of retaliation hoot at the President.

But he warned “If the security does not take action, we will take action. We will crash them, we will retaliate, we will go at any length to stop it.”

He emphasised that the NDC supporters in the region would “not allow our president to be disgraced”.

President Mahama is expected to touch down in Kumasi this evening, but the NDC believes if not checked, anything untoward by the NPP might take away the beauty of Otumfuo’s anniversary.
